Strawberry Kale and Spinach Detox Smoothie Final Shot 3

I like you. And I think about you often. Like… every single day.

I think about what kind of scones you might like. I think about what kind of cookies you’ll want to make this weekend. I think about vegetarian things for you…I think about gluten free ideas too. I think about butter and sugar and garlic. Not together though, of course. Because that would be weird.

Today I thought about making you a little healthier. A detox smoothie for an after workout snack or as breakfast before rushing out the door.

Sometimes it’s nice to throw things in a blender and call it a meal.

PS. This can be made the night before and kept in the refrigerator for the morning meal/snack. It totally tastes the same. I used this blender to make my smoothie. It super powerful and a great investment for those of you that make smoothies/blends often!

PPS. My husband, hater of all things veggies, (up until recently) has declared he loves these smoothies. That’s saying a lot, folks. You don’t know him that well yet, so let me explain. That’s like saying a 4 year old just happily agreed to eat brussels sprouts for breakfast.

Happy Friday!

Strawberry Kale and Spinach Detox Smoothie Ingredients Top ShotI used fresh strawberries this time but frozen work just as well! I often use a frozen pineapple, mango and strawberry combo, if your grocery store sells that, it would be perfect for this recipe!

Strawberry Kale and Spinach Detox Smoothie Ingredients three quarter viewIts a citrus smiley. Oranges are season right now so make sure to use fresh oranges. Theres way too much added sugar in store bought stuff anyway.

Strawberry Kale and Spinach Detox Smoothie Ingredients in BlenderPile all the ingredients into the blender. Give it a whiz and drink up this sunshine goodness! For those of you that haven’t tried kale before, you won’t even be able to tell it’s there!

I can’t seem to find the amounts of each to put into the smoothie, very interested in trying this, but would like the ingredient amounts for the spinich, kale and strawberry smoothie

Can I add almond milk instead of water? Would it work the same?

  3. Sharon Grieb says:

Excellent smoothie recipe! Thank you, these smoothies are terrific for adding veggies to your childs diet without them even knowing. Tastes amazing !!

  4. danielle says:

I have been making this drink minus the yogurt and minus the orange. Instead of the orange sometimes I squeeze a lemon or a lime on top. Sometimes I throw some blueberries in too!!

  5. Leanne Coughlan says:

I always make a similar smoothie but FROZEN strawberries work best because it tastes more like a smoothie not as watery, and add lemon WITH peel, its good for you and doesn’t effect taste. Also try adding ground flax seed for more fibre. RAW BEETS are delicious in smoothie as well.

I make a very similar smoothie and if you wanted to add a little more flavor, add crystallized ginger. It adds a little spice to an already great recipe!

  7. Crystal says:

Tasted great!! Do you know the calories sugar n fat content of smoothie? Thanks!

    1. Marzia says:

Glad you enjoyed it, Crystal! I don’t have the nutritional content off hand, but you can get it by simply plugging in the recipe at myfitnesspal.com.

How does this help with detox? Does this smoothie make flush your system out? Or does it make you go to the restroom? How often can I use this as a detox? What are other detox smoothies with other ingredients if I can’t have kale and strawberries?

    1. Marzia says:

The ingredients used in this smoothie contain lots of antioxidants which help eliminate free radicals in the body, hence detoxifying the body. Kale contains lots of fiber and sulfur (as well as antioxidants) which are all great for detoxifying your body and keeping your liver healthy. Miranda, this is perhaps not the right smoothie for you if you’re looking for something to flush your system + do not like kale and strawberries. I’m unsure what vegetables/fruits you like therefore perhaps searching for other detox recipes on a search engine would produce better results. Best of luck!

HI there! I’ve done this recipe many times and I love it! My question is, if I were to use ice, would I still need the 1/4 cup of water?

    1. Marzia says:

      Hi Tiffany,
I am so happy to hear you’re loving this smoothie! I think you could leave the water out if you’re using ice. If it’s too thick, just add in a tablespoon or so of water! 🙂

Yummy in my tummy, drinking now!

    1. Marzia says:

      Glad you’re enjoying it Alainna!

Although mine wasn’t as pretty, it was super yummy!

  12. Kiesha says:

I am a person that does not eat their fruits and veggies. However, i’ve been getting myself into the habit of eating pineapples and strawberries which i really love! this is the perfect receipe!! would you recommend that i make this everyday? or should i try to switch up?

    1. Marzia says:

      Hi Kiesha!
I’m so glad you’ve found a way to trick yourself into eating fruits and veggies! It will make you feel soooo much better. You can definitely drink these everyday, although you may get sick of having the same flavor alll the time. If you like, I have another similar recipe to this one on the blog For a Very Berry Avocado Spinach smoothie. You can omit the avocado (although you can’t really taste it, it just adds creaminess and nutrition) and use Greek yogurt instead if you’d like! Hope that helps! =)

  13. Jessica Rosenbaum says:

Mmmmm it was so good. My 3 year old daughter lapped it up. We used strawberry yogurt since I had no Greek and also we used agave instead of honey! Thanks for sharing!! Bookmarked.

    1. Marzia says:

Glad to hear that it’s kid approved! Strawberry yogurt + agave are great ideas! I’m definitely going to try it out your way too! Thanks for the idea!

  14. carole burkhardt says:

also good with half a frozen banana…. and some almond butter (I use that with almond milk instead of yogurt). Thanks for the new recipe idea though 🙂

    1. Marzia says:

I use frozen bananas quite often in smoothies, too! Almond butter is a great idea! I’ll have to come up with another smoothie! So many ideas running through my head! Thanks!

  15. Sadia says:

What’s the mango/pineapple mix? Is it a juice?

    1. Marzia says:

It’s cubed frozen fruit. They usually sell them in the frozen food aisle. Thanks for picking that up! I’ll correct it in the recipe print out =)

      1. berri says:

we don’t have mango and pineapple frozen at our store BUT! i buy fresh and put it in sandwich bags and freeze my own in 1 cup servings and i usually use mix of pineapple and mango

      2. Marzia says:

That is even better! It’s always good to stock up on berries and tropical fruit when the season is at its peak. Not only is it cheaper, but also you know you have fruit with no additives! Great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  16. Yead says:

Wow…… looking so great. Great idea.

    1. Marzia says:

Thanks! They are deliciously good for you! =)
